Getting started

Is Milk Khata free?

Yes, 100%. You can download Milk Khata — Dairy Hisab Book free on Google Play. There's no subscription, no trial expiry, no "pro" version. The app is supported by small ads.

Which phones does it work on?

Any Android phone running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or newer. The app is lightweight — about 15 MB — so it runs well even on older phones.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. Milk Khata is currently available only on Android via Google Play.

I've never used a ledger app before. Is it hard?

No. The app is designed specifically for milkmen who have always used a paper notebook. If you can use WhatsApp, you can use Milk Khata. Most users add their first few customers within the first 10 minutes.

Daily use

Does it work without internet?

Yes, completely. Every entry, every bill, every customer record is stored on your phone. The only time you need internet is to share a PDF bill on WhatsApp.

Can I track morning and evening separately?

Yes. Milk Khata has dedicated morning (subah) and evening (shaam) shift entries for every customer. Totals for each shift are calculated automatically.

Can I set different milk rates for different customers?

Yes. Each customer can have their own rate — cow, buffalo, or custom — and you can update rates any time. Bills recalculate automatically.

What if I make a mistake in an entry?

Just tap the entry and edit or delete it. No restrictions.

Bills & payments

How do I send a bill to my customer?

Open the customer's khata → tap "Generate bill" → choose the month. The app creates a PDF bill you can share directly on WhatsApp, SMS, or email.

What does the PDF bill look like?

A clean, professional bill with your dairy name, the customer's name, every daily entry for the period, rate, and the total amount due. Easy for customers to read and pay.

How do I track who has paid and who hasn't?

The Outstanding Ledger shows every customer with a pending balance in one view, sorted by amount or oldest unpaid. Record payments (full or partial) in one tap.

Does Milk Khata process UPI payments?

Not directly. Your customers pay you through whatever method you use today — cash, UPI, bank transfer. The app tracks who has paid and keeps your khata clean.

Data & privacy

Where is my data stored?

All your data — customers, entries, bills, everything — is stored locally on your phone. It does not leave your device.

Do you share my customer list with anyone?

Never. We don't collect customer phone numbers, don't sell data, and don't have access to your ledger. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What happens if I change phones?

Since data is stored on-device, we recommend backing up and transferring carefully. If you need help moving to a new phone, email darknod3@gmail.com.

Troubleshooting

The app is crashing. What do I do?

First, update to the latest version from Play Store. If it still happens, email darknod3@gmail.com with a short description and a screenshot if you can. Most issues are fixed within the week.

I found a bug. How do I report it?

Can I request a new feature?

Absolutely. A lot of what's in the app today came from milkmen who asked. Write to darknod3@gmail.com with your suggestion.
